Haori is a type of traditional Japanese outerwear, a jacket or blazer-like garment.
 
This 1930s haori is made of ‘meisen’ silk, using a ‘kasuri’ – a traditional Japanese method of producing a printed fabric. The item is reversible; you can wear it on both sides. This haori has a tiny repaired fragment, which tells the history of a piece.
